I've been using the Trackball Optical as a USB device for a long time and my
hand is used to it. Bought a second computer and another TO. The ball drags
and rolls in spurts, as though it was dirty. I feel a slight resistance to my
thumb's motion to move the ball. Tried cleaning it, but no solution.
There are three (3) little ball-bearings in the ball-holder and it's hard to
tell if they are rolling OK. They are extremely small! Gave up and bought
another one from the same store). Same problem! Returned it. Both of the
"sticky" TO's are shown as made in China.
Bought an equivalent Logitech, but it drove my hand crazy. Can't have two
different mice on two computers sitting side by side. No complaint against
LT, but I don't want to retrain my mouse hand (at age 83 and 40 years as a
code banger, it may not be possible!).
Has anyone found oiut how to clean the TO so that it doesn't have this
draggy/intermittent kind of operation right out of the box? Is it acutally a
hardware defect you know about? Could it be a "breaking in problem"? That
sounds silly for a mouse! But...
