MS exchange server email account setup?

R

Ronal

Thanks to Hal for answering my first question on setup under OUTLOOK 2003 /
VISTA HP, I found the mail set up icon in the 32 bit area.

BUT

Now after I enter my server name and user name, I get an message saying that
OUTLOOK has to be online to verify the name.

When I start OUTLOOK, it just sits there and does nothing.

An IT guy in my NY office says that I have to be signed in on the network
but I've never had to do this in the past. I just start OUTLOOK and access
our servers via an Verizon wireless card.

How do I connect to my MS exchange server?

Your IT guy is correct, you have to be connected to the domain and online in
order to setup the account; Outlook, in an Exchange environment, uses your
Domain credentials. This is just to setup the account. Once setup, you can
configure Outlook to run in Offline mode, Cached Exchange mode, or connect
it through either a VPN tunnel, or set it up to do RPC over HTTP (if the
Exchange Server is setup to provide it).
