I have Microsoft's Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth Keyboard and
Mouse, it's been working great for months (though the batteries are worn out
at an alarming rate), but it's just decided to stop working. I've fully
charged the batteries (and also tried other batteries) and pressed the reset
button on the back. Windows XP seems to find the keyboard when I search for
it via Control Panel and it asks me to type the digits for the security
check, but I cannot type anything in.

Why can it find the keyboard but not let me type anything?

The Bluetooth mouse is fine, I've checked the support site and cannot find
anything related to this.

Can anyone help please?

Same problem here. Everything worked just fine untill recently.

When trying to type the passkey, the F Lock key does function, but
cannot type any numbers. I lost my keyboard several times before, b
first removing the bluetooth keyboard :( (http://tinyurl.com/j2yl),
was able to register again. This time nothing seems to help though!

After de-installing / installing for some hours, I just received the
solution from Microsoft...

Return the entire set, because you will not be able to find it any
more!! Guess why no solutions can be found anywhere!

My dealer just told me he has already returned quite a few of these
keyboards because of the same defect!

I hope your dektopset can still be returned with warrenty
