Moving Windows XP Home

Computer1 has Windows XP Home (upgrade ver. not OEM) on it. Computer2 has
Windows ME on it. I want to upgrade computer1 to Windows XP Pro, and then
using the Windows XP home CD I already have, upgrade computer2 to Windows XP
Home. How do I get Windows XP Home activated on the new computer?

Hi,

How did computer1 get XP Home? Did it come with the system or did you
purchase a retail CD? If it came with the system, you are probably not going
to be able to use it on the other machine. That type of license, referred to
as an OEM license, does not provide for transferring to another system, it
is only good for the machine it came with. If you purchased a retail disk,
then simply install it on computer2 after upgrading computer1 and activate
it (at worst, you will call this in but in most cases that will not be
necessary).
