Moving applications to a new hard drive

I installed a new drive to accommodate my son's iPod music library. How do I
move the iTunes application, all files and all his music to the new drive?

You can use Windows Explorer to copy all the files to the new drive.
You will have to uninstall the iTunes program and then reinstall it,
this time directing it to the new drive.

Good luck

If I do it that way, uninstalling and reinstalling, won't he lose all the
music he's already downloaded to iTunes? That's what I'm trying to avoid.

Thanks for the advice.

A careful user would always copy everything that he does not want to use to
a backup device. Things don't always go right even if they are supposed to.

To answer your question, yes he would lose everything. However, in order to
get the application to work correctly from the new disk, the only way is to
remove it all from the previous disk and install it to the new disk.

Some applications allow the user to specify the location of their data.
Maybe this one does, but to find out you will need to consult the manual.

Thanks for the input. You are correct...iTunes allows the user to specify
where to store the data files. I moved all his music to the new drive but
left the application in the current location. That will work well, since
it's the music that takes up the most space.

Thanks to all who replied.
