Movie Maker quit working

I've used WMM for some time but, a couple of days ago, it quit working.
Every time I try to load the program, I get an error message that it "has
encountered a problem and needs to close.
Tried downloading the software from the Microsoft site, but it won't let me
since I already have XP SP3 installed.
Any suggestions???

Found your website and am slowly working my way thru the possible fixes....at
least those that I feel comfortable handling (I'm no expert!). So far, no
luck, but I'll keep working on it. In the meantime, Thanks!
