Movie maker freezes during capture

I'm using XP Professional SP2 with a V Stream 2388 capture card. I'm trying
to capture video from my vcr using composite cables. After about 5 minutes
of capturing, the whole computer freezes. At that point I have to just turn
it off, I can't even use ctrl alt delete.

Hi!

I am experiencing a similar problem when I try to capture video from my DV
camcorder. The video preview screen doesn't even come on and only about 5
minutes of video is downloaded and then the whole computer freezes. What
should I be checking???

Unfortunately Movie Maker doesn't work well with analog connections. It is
better to connect the VCR through a digital pass-through device and then to
your computer so you would then be capturing a digital signal. Some digital
camcorders offer this feature otherwise you can purchase a Dazzle80 which
will perform this task.
Your other option is to use the software that came with the capture card.
