No Video but audio Analog S-video capture

-- I am trying to transfer analog video from a Sony Hi-8 xr model CCD-Trv65
NTSC. I have a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center edition computer version
2002 service pack 2 with a pentium 3.2 ghz and 2.00 gb of ram . I am also
using Windows movie maker software that came with my computer purchase. In
the "about windows movie maker" pulldown menu it states I have a version
5.1(Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070277-2254:service pack 2) and it aalso states
windows movie maker version 2.1.4026.0. I have an NVIDEA GeForce 7300 LE
graphics card? and Conexant Falcon II NTSC Video Capture card with s video,
composite, I can capture fine using the rca composite video outs but I was
looking for better video quality so I purchased an S-video cable and hooked
it to my camcorders S-video out to the s video in on my computer. I still
have the rca audio connected and I can see in the capture screen the audio is
in the display and detected and when I get to the capture screen I can see my
video in the preview screen while it's being captured. It all looks like it's
going fine and then when I hit stop capture and click finish. The file
appears in my clips area with a green preview window on the clip. when I drag
the clip to movie maker the audio is there but the video is missing
completely. Sometimes it captures both but only for a few seconds. I can
capture fine with the yellow composite cable but not the s video cable. what
the @#$#3@! am I doing wrong? In my sound and video game controllers window I
have Conexant Falcon II NTSC video capture, something called Legacy video
capture devices. Help me! I'm going crazy.
THanks.

I don't know why this is happening, but what I'd do is stop worrying about
it and use the composite cable to capture. The difference in s-video to
composite is small, and only there if the cam records a signal that is
s-video compliant.
