movie maker crashes

i'm using a Compaq Presario 700 notebook with 256meg ram. The hard drive has
5 gig of free space.

Movie Maker crashes over and over again when I am working on content. Please
advise.

You have a lot of try-this-n-that and this-n-that. Makes my head spin.

I have 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600.

Do I need Service Pack 2 inorder to get the MM2.1 update?

Yes, you need SP to get to Movie Maker 2.1

.... and yes, you shouldn't be reading in detail or pondering too much the
many things on my site that are not associated with the issues you are
