Mouse Icon

The mouse icon insists on appearing in my continuous autorun PP presentation.
Even when I park the mouse at the far border, it still shows and when it
switches to the hourglass icon between slides, it's distracting. Is there
some trick to hiding it? Thanks. Susan

No that should work. Is it an old version of powerpoint?

If you right click the screen during the show do you get a menu where you
can select pointer options > Arrow options > hidden?

No. It's PowerPoint 2003! When I get back home tonight I'll try the right
click idea. I wonder does it have to do with my setting this up as a
continuous autorun? I ask because I think the only thing I can do once it's
running is hit Escape to stop it. I'm pretty sure I tried right clicking to
stop it and it didn't do anything. (No options at all) Anyway thanks for the
advice. I'll be back to you later after I can try your suggestion.

Turning into an epic eh!

I just tried an autorun (no click advance) looping show in 2003 and both
CTRL H and right click worked for me!

Youre not using powerpoint player by any chance? (it wont work in the player)

Does the pen / highlighter work - If not you may need to install
"handwriting tools" from your original Cd though it is normally installed
unless you chose custom installation

Good Luck - report back!

I did save it as a "Presentation," burned it to the CD and copied that to the
laptop. Is that the problem? Isn't Player something else entirely?

Susan,
By any chance, are you running in Kiosk mode? Click Slide Show > Set Up Show.
Under Show type, see if it is "Browsed at a kiosk".
If so, you won't be able to hide your icon.
Change the show type to "Presented by a speaker" instead.

Eureka! Changed to Presented by a Speaker and the problem is GONE! Thanks to
everyone who worked on this one for me. Susan

This may be a dumb question, but I'm having the same problem.

Surely running is KIOSK MODE ppt would kill the mouse pointer? Isn't that
the idea of kiosk mode?

I believe the cursor always shows in Kiosk mode because kiosks are often set
up so the user must click a button or a link to move to the next slide. If
you've got a kiosk with automatic transitions, you'd probably just remove
the mouse -- I think that removes the cursor. Or you'd drag the cursor off
the edge of the slide so it doesn't show and then remove it or hide it.

Just the opposite, actually. Kiosk mode disables nearly all keystroke commands for controlling the
presentation so that it can ONLY be controlled via mouseclicks on navigation buttons/links that you
provide. If you took away the mouse, it'd be a pretty dull affair.
