Monitor blackout

I'm not sure whether this is a Windows', graphics card or monitor problem,
but hopefully someone can help.

I have a 19 inch Acer Flat screen monitor which blacks out. Sometimes it
doesn't happen at all, other times it happens after 5 minutes and others
after 30 minutes.

In all cases though the symptoms are the same. The screen goes black while
typing. The green 'on' light remains on, and the problem is corrected by
turning the monitor off and then back on again.

I've read that the problem may be caused by a windows update affecting the
graphics card, but a system restore to before the problems started hasn't
fixed the problem, and I have no idea what else to try . Does anyone have any
ideas.

Hello,

It seems to be your monitor problem (most likely the backlight is burning
out). Try using another monitor and see if the problem persists.
