missing desktop shortcut icons

My daughter used the desktop cleanup wizard to stash several icons in a folder.
She has a power user account.
It removed the same icons from my administrator account's desktop,
but it didn't put them into my unused icon folder, they are just gone.
I was able to restore them back to her desktop, but not mine
How did this happen?
How do I prevent it from happening again?
How do I restore the shortcuts (As admin. can I copy them from one user's desktop to another?
I don't want to put them all into all users unless I don't have any choice,
because then I would have to go clean up my younger daughter's desktop again

Probably they are not gone at all - IMO they are placed on daughter's
desktop in unused icons folder.

IMVHO removed icons were placed in %allusersprofile% (not %userprofile%)
folder and the cleanup wizard moved them to daughter's unused icons
folder.

Do not keep personal items in "common desktop folder".

Yes, you can.

I don't want to put them all into all users unless I don't have any
choice, /.../

So don't do this - make copies for both of users.
