Microsoft Works Suite 2001 Driver problems with Windows XP

B

beth

I have installed Microsoft Works Suite 2001 on a recently
purchased used computer. Hard drive is Intel Pentium III.
Operating system is Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002.
The computer came with a 3dFx Voodoo3 video card. When
using Word, the screen locks up. Sometimes I loose info
and have to reboot. I have received error about the video
driver. I returned computer to place of purchase ( a
Renaissance Computer store) and was told that I have the
latest driver and there is nothing they can or will do.
The driver info is:
3dfxvs.dll
Version: 5.00.2489.0028
3dfxvsm.sys

Is there any fix for this problem? Thanks

Drivers are the responsibility of the hardware manufacturer. 3dfx sold
their core business to nVidia. Your best bet is to contact them or purchase
a new graphics card as it's possible the card on your system is quite dated
and even the most recent drivers for it might be considered dated as well.

Beth,
I'm sorry but 3Dfx (the company that made your video card) is out of
business.
Please see the following information that we give users who hit issues with
this hardware.

Basically you need to go out and buy a new video card. You should be able
to pick up a comparable video card for somewhere in the area of $40.00.
Let me know if we can help you further....
