video driver doesn't work with xp pro

I am looking for info on how to upgrade the video driver
on my computer so that it works with XP professional
operating system. My Presario 3005us notebook came with a
XP Home OS and Compaq technical support says to get the
video driver to work I have to reload the XP Home OS. This
is an unacceptable answer. I need the internet services
capability on the professional OS so I don't want to go
back to the Home version. I figure there must be a way to
upgrade the video driver to be compatible with the
professional version. Does anyone have any experience with
this?
