pound is worthless if oil producing countries only buy $$ and
actually _want_ to buy euros (but do not out of nuke fear).

Now you've lost it. The value of a thing (all things, including
currencies) is what the market dictates they are worth, when the
supply and demand curves cross. People want pounds and dollars
for what you can buy with them. Frankly euros aren't all that
interesting because many things are overpriced/overtaxed/reg'd.

Oil in euros is a red herring. It would mostly make no difference
at all except to the banking centers. NY would get less busy
and Frankfurt (and Amsterdam) would be overwhelmed by settlements
of 5+G$/day (primary, multiply by some factor for cash management
activities).

Nor would it matter even if Frankfurt could handle it. If the oil
owners turned around and bought US priced assets (stocks & bonds)
or good (commodities), the euro would just see a flow-thru.

If the oil sellers want euro-priced assets, they just
swap the US$ for euros and buy them. Basically frictionless.

Nukes got nothing to do with it. Capabilities/depth does.

No thank you.

I shouldn't be too surprised by this kind of response. You're just another
barking moonbat who has his mind (what passes for it, anyway) made up
already and is unwilling to have it be contaminated with such icky things as
facts.

Never mind that you'll be the first against the wall when the caliphate
comes. When the Koranimals are sawing through your neck with a rusty blade,
don't bother calling out for us to save your dumb ass. You made your bed;
now you can lie in it.

Exactly.

Ah, wrong perspective, wrong side of the game.
Be a banker, you print them, they buy them.
You need to sell your paper.

Oil in euros is a red herring. It would mostly make no difference

Yes, and they own the world, really, from the mortgage on your house,
to the big corporations, to the little mans savings, etc.

Well... for the electronics trading systems (xept in Japan uche uche)
some extra traffic would be no problem.

No, if they stopped buying $$$$$ then US would collapse.
Because US is just printing worthless paper to get fuel to have
its 'economy' functioning.
If it did have to buy Euros (because it would need to pay in euros for oil),
then the EU would not be willing and even able to to accept that much $$$$$$.
because who wants useless paper, US has ++++++deficit. the dollar bills
are not covered by _any_ sort of anything.

You have an overblown idiotic concept of what the US really is: nothing.

You just stole the land from the native Americans, stole Israel from
the native Palestinians, destroyed a beautiful Iraq, just like a
bunch of predators.

It is human nature, we are just as bad, just do not test it, you would
get hurt.

But US does not want any peace, it plots for unrest and war, to sell its
weapons, as weapons (including those of mass destruction) and MS Windows
(the biggest source of irritation on earth) are your export products.

You cannot save anyone least yourself.
You cannot help anyone least yourself.

Now go and play, salute that flag, and get killed fighting for 'freedom'.
A 'freedom' defined by a US general as:
'The freedom to attack when and where we want'.

Hello? Thank God for the 3500km sea.

Of course. But the US are extremely good salesmen.
Yes, and they own the world, really, from the mortgage on your
house, to the big corporations, to the little mans savings, etc.

Bankers only matter when they can be non-competitive. Something
the US has worked very hard (and fairly successfully) against.
Well... for the electronics trading systems (xept in Japan

Not quite. Electronics are all well and good, but transactions
take judgement, reserves and quick action. I doubt
Frankfurt is up to it. Too nervous, thin backoffice.
No, if they stopped buying $$$$$ then US would collapse.

The USD might collapse, but the US would not. The point
is moot because people still want the USD and have
confidence in the Greenspan/Bernake stewardship. As well
as the flexibility/depth of US markets.
Because US is just printing worthless paper to get fuel
to have its 'economy' functioning. If it did have to buy
Euros (because it would need to pay in euros for oil),
then the EU would not be willing and even able to to

Then the USD should have already collapsed. It has not, because people
want it more than you seem to recognize. And while nations [nat.banks]
have political constraints (mostly do not wish to see their currencies
appreciate too quickly), Individuals have no such constraints and
greatly outweigh nations (otherwise, the IMF would actually work).

Nobody wants an other Fox TV.

The US is a very big place, and there are certainly people
who find Fox a bit _liberal_ for their tastes, and something
rightward might even be a commercial success.

Please see:
http://mason.gmu.edu/~atabarro/MediaBias.doc
for an interesting _quantification_ of the US Left vs
Right political scale.

Regardless of whether you (or anyone else) likes it or not,
the US political center is considerably rightwards of Europe.
This is a question of individual values. Humans do not have
"center" wired in.

Mainstream US media are generally only seen as middle-of-the-road
by Europeans, themselves and other urban intellectuals. Much of
"flyover country" considers ABC/CBS/NBC/CNN/NYT as left wing.
This is how politicians such as George Bush get elected.

He aimed at an under-represented population, and is rewarded mostly
by getting them out to vote. Bush certainly didn't pander or
try excessively to win the center. Blair seems to have run this
in reverse. Democrats are trying to copycat and appeal to their
fringes, polarizing US politics. November will tell somewhat,
but I think the Dems risk crashing (ala McGovern) since they
already do a better job of getting out their vote. If they don't,
it will likely be a protest vote that could disappear in 2008.

The data can be ignored/denied only at your peril.

You just stole the land from the native Americans,
Nope, this was started when the 13 colonies were still the subjects of
HM the King. So if any one is liable, it's GB and EU, a part of which
GB is, and who provided the majority of immigrants up until Kennedy
changed immigration rules to favor Latinos, Africans, and Asians over
Europeans.
;-)
stole Israel from
the native Palestinians,
Native? Read the history books. Arabs took the land by conquest from
E.Romans, then were kicked out by the French, and these in turn were
kicked out by Saladin and his Turks. What makes khalif Omar or
Saladin better than Ben Gurion or Gen. Dayan? Just the fact that the
former were "noble" muslims and the latter "lowly" Jews? Arabs are no
more native than the Turks or Crusaders or Romans. If anyone is the
native to the land, it's Israelis. Need a proof? Read the Bible, not
as a religious artefact but as the written record of the past.
destroyed a beautiful Iraq,
Does Saddam look like a beauty queen? Jan, your affinity is strange,
to put it lightly ;-)

Now you showed your true colors and they are #FF0000 (for the ones who
doesn't understand RGB - it's RED with no half-tones or other colors
mixed). From your other post - "Russia was betrayed by the man with
the black spot" means you believe that 70+ years of Communist rule
were actually good for the people and the country. Fervently
anti-American. Ultra-left. Yes, also anti-Semitic, no matter how
hard you try to mask it as Atheist and anti-Zionist. In one word -
*Communist*. Like it or not, ultra-left and ultra-right are one and
the same, and it's truly indicative that in today's Russia the
hard-line Communists often join forces with ultra-Nationalists in
their efforts to bring back the Soviet Empire. And it's also
indicative that Hitler's party was called Deutche Nazional
Sozialistische Arbeiter (Worker for those who doesn't know German -
NNN) Partei. Socialist Worker Party!!! Think of it if you can.
Hello? Thank God for the 3500km sea.
I thought you are an Atheist. But if EU is full of Commies like you,
and joyfully marches toward the guiding light of Communism, yes I'll
repeat after you: "Thank God for the 3500km sea". But I'm afraid that
even before you manage to fly the red banner over Europe, the green
banner of prophet will be flying over Eurabia. Again, "Thank God for
the 3500km sea".

As for Julius GW BUSH Caesar, he is just a Saudi agent, he does not give a
dime for any US people, even less for others.
Look at it from the Saudi POV.
First they buy Bush Sr, then his (total failure alcoholic) son.
They secretly convert him to Islam, he stops drinking, and runs for
president, financed by Saudi money.

So, Jan, I'm curious. Do you really believe this stuff, or is it just
troll-bait?

I'm assuming the latter, but Scientologists actually believe all that
Xenu stuff, so it's certainly possible that you believe this.

I mean, fuzzy-brained socialism is one thing - lots of people swing
that way, and you're obviously fond of spouting it - but this kind of
conspiracy blather is something else altogether.

Inquiring minds, and all that...

Not at all. IF we wanted to, we could march our vast, superior armies into
whatever fly blown third world shithole you infest, conquer your entire
country (and I use the term loosely), and have you sucking our collective
dicks before 5PM tomorrow.

Lucky for you, we don't want to.
Thank God for the 3500km sea.

Indeed.

Now why don't you strap 20 pounds of fresh bloody meat to your emaciated
veggie-fed torso, and take a dive right into the middle of it, you ****ing
skidmark?
