Microsoft Message Queuing Service

Dear All,
I have XP home edition and I need to add "Microsoft Message Queuing Service"
in order to use some other softwares related to networking. I am wondering if
Home Edition is capable of installing "Microsoft Message Queuing Service"? I
tried to go to Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs / Add Remove Windows
Components / but I can not see any Microsoft Message Queuing Service in order
to put the check mark for installation.

Hello,

Quite honestly, I do not have much knowledge about Message Queuing service,
but under my Windows XP Professional installation, I do see "Message
Queuing" under Add/Remove windows components. I would believe that this is
only available under Windows XP Pro, and not under home edition. Someone
else here might be able to give you more information about this.

Message Queuing is available for XP Home.

From XP HELP:

To install Message Queuing with independent client functionality
1 Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
2 Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3 In the Windows Components Wizard, select the Message Queuing check box.
4 If you want to change the default set of optional subcomponents that will
be installed, click Details, and then do the following.
* If the computer belongs to a domain and you want it to operate in
workgroup mode, clear the Active Directory Integration check box.
* If you do not want to install Message Queuing Triggers, clear the Triggers
check box.
* If you intend to send messages by HTTP transport, select the MSMQ HTTP
Support check box.

Notes
* To open Add or Remove Programs, click Start, point to Settings, click
Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
* The Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in is not available in
Windows XP Home Edition.
* To open Computer Management after Message Queuing has been installed,
right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
* For more information about using Message Queuing, view Message Queuing
Help, or click the button in either snap-in.

Hi Wesley,
Thanks for the info, but the problem is that under Windows Component Wizard,
there is no Message Queuing check box to select, or maybe it is not installed
at the time of downloading the OP Sys. What else should I do?

(System stand-alone Optional Component Manager). When you open Add/Remove
Windows Components, sysocmgr.exe runs.

See this about modifying the sysoc.inf file.

If this line has HIDE in it see above on how to remove.

msmq=msmqocm.dll,MsmqOcm,msmqocm.inf,,6 <== Message Queuing

HIDE would be between the two commas before the 6, like this.

msmq=msmqocm.dll,MsmqOcm,msmqocm.inf,HIDE,6

If HIDE is in the above line, Message Queuing will NOT appear in Add/Remove
Windows Components.

msmq = MicroSoft Message Queuing.

msmqocm.dll is Message Queuing Setup.

msmqocm.inf is the install file for Message Queuing.

Try this also. O r maybe try it first.

Start | Run | Type: %windir%\inf | Click OK |
Locate msmqocm.inf, right click on msmqocm.inf and click on Install.

Tip from Kelly.

Go to Windows\inf. In the right pane scroll down to msmqocm.inf. Right click
it and choose install.

If it isn't listed ...

Go to Windows\inf. In the right pane scroll down to sysoc.inf. Open it in
Notepad and remove this line:
msmq=msmqocm.dll,MsmqOcm,msmqocm.inf,,6

Hi Wesley,
I followed your directions, here is the result:
It seems that I don't have msmqocm.inf in the inf folder. I even searched
msmqocm on C drive and it returned no results.
I also looked at the sysoc file in inf folder and I did not see the line
that you mentioned: msmq=msmqocm.dll,MsmqOcm,msmqocm.inf,,6
Maybe the problem is the missing msmqocm.inf file. What do you think?

Remove the 123 and E-mail me.

(e-mail address removed)

I will send you msmqocm.dll and msmqocm.inf.

msmqocm.dll needs to go in C:\WINDOWS\system32\Setup
and
msmqocm.inf needs to go in C:\WINDOWS\inf
