Microsoft Card File

I think it was here that someone was looking for the old Win 3.1
Cardfile program. Well, a friend just gave me an old notebook computer
he'll never use again. It has Win 3.1 loaded, and cardfile is there.
I've just copied the files to my WinXP machine, and it seems to work
just fine.

If that person is still looking for cardfile, I'll be happy to send
him/her a copy.

Cardfile from Windows 2 works too:

Avoid windows 1 apps though.

But none of this is freeware, and many wont have win 2 or 3 licenses.

Over the years I've made sure to copy that program to every new computer
and operating system. A great example of very useful simplicity... it can
even dial out a phone number (if you still use a dialup modem). The
perfect small app to jot down names, addresses, phones, passwords, etc.

May Card File live forever, but why does the Edlin editor linger on? Bill
Gates must owe its author a big favor... or perhaps Bill himself wrote it?

Another good tool for addresses, etc, is Excel or one of its freeware
clones such as Calc.

I have separate tabs for addresses, passwords, personal account
information, software registration numbers and serial numbers of
valuable items. By parsing the data into columns, you can sort the data
any way you like.

Excel allows password protection of the file itself, too. I am told the
Excel password protection is not highly uncrackable, but it's good
enough to keep casual hackers at bay.

Got it in the mail about two weeks ago...threw it away.
Jtees4;

The one I am referring to in the url cited above has not generated
correspondence to plaintiffs in well over two years. Final filings were
halted over a year ago.

So; no.

You did /not/ receive it "about two weeks ago." You may want to check
your trash. Pleasantly flippant answer though.
