Memory shortage running DOS program

Hi,

Recently I've developed a problem running an old DOS
program (Cardfile) on my WinXP system. The error upon
attempt of opening is: Not enough memory to perform this
operation. Quit one of more applications to increase
available memory, and then try again. You might guess
that this message appears even with no other applications
running.

I've run this application for nearly 18 months without
problem. Just before this happened, I attempted to
install Outlook97 on my machine. (I had an old copy of
Office 97 already installed but did not have that
application loaded.) The installation went well, but I
developed some error upon attempt to open and nothing
happened--I only received an automated request from
Windows to report the problem to MS. I have since
uninstalled Outlook but the problem with Cardfile
persists.

Ironically, I had read somewhere that Outlook was one of
the few programs that could read .crd files, and I was
hoping to transfer my records to a more modern address
book application.

If I can't get Cardfile to open, are there other
applications that might be able to read a .crd file?

Any suggestions from anyone? I thought XP did away with
basic memory problems.

Thanks!

I've also had a similar problem to that of hhg2's with XP trying to run an
old DOS based program. I'm not sure how to relocate my drivers into the
Hi-mem area to enable it to run. It seems laughable that I dont have the
590k of memory that it is demanding!!!

Is there anyone that can help? Any assistance would be appreciated.
