Microsoft antispyware hose during registry scan

I've tried running microsoft antispyware in varous virtual memory
configurations, and in every case, the antispyware hoses during the
hkey_local_machine/software/altnet scan. I 've set the virtual memory for
"system managed" and still received the "virtual memory minimum too low"
message. As I right this message, I've set manually configured the min for
1500 and the max for 4096. Any suggestons?

I think this is due to a piece of spyware removing the security of the
registry key associated with it (i.e., it's corrupted the registry key).
Because of this, MSAS goes into a never-ending loop trying to scan this
registry key.

The solution is to try another product. I suggest ewido
(http://www.download.com/3001-8022_4-10326287.html?idl=n), Ad-Aware
(http://www.download.com/3001-8022_4-10399602.html?idl=n), and Spybot
(http://www.download.com/3001-8022_4-10401314.html?idl=n). Just remember to
deselect both checkmarks on the Additional Options screen when installing
ewido, and to turn off Immunization once Spybot has been installed. If you
don't do so, then all sorts of conflicts can happen between the real-time
protection features of these products and MSAS' Real-time Protection.

Once you have installed these other antispyware apps, download the latest
updates, and then reboot the system to Safe Mode. Once there, run a scan
with one product, remove what it detects, close that products, and do so for
the other remaining products until you have run all three apps.

You can then run a scan with MSAS and it shouldn't have a problem.
