Messenger keeps crashing

Hi,

Windows Messenger crashes every 3-5 minutes and presents me with the message
"Windows Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close". It seems
to be related to msmsgs.exe 5.3.2600.2180 and Ksproxy.ax 4.7.0.3001.

I'm running Windows XP with all the latest patches.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For what its worth: Found an old version of msmsgs.exe and renamed it. The
problem disappeared, then about 4 hours later the system crashed so hard that
I couldn't read any C:\ directories in Restore mode. At least I have a
fresh system now...
