Messages View

In Outlook 2003, there's a new default view, where Show in Groups
is "On" and Grid Line Style is "Solid". I find both highly
irritating.

Of cause, I can create a new view or modify the view for the
specific folder. But isn't there any way to select a defined view
for all (marked) folders or for 'this folder and all
sub-folders'?

Best would be if one could convince Outlook to also create all
*new* folders using the view of your own choice; simply changing
the default.

I've tried modifying the Messages view, but it looks like the
view settings apply only to a single folder, not all of them. At
least all of the other folders don't change their appearence and
new ones still look like the default.

Any hints?

TIA,

Look up "change default Views" or "reset standard views" in Help and loads of
info will come up. Going to View>Arrange by>Current View or Define Current
views will get you more options. Help explains how.

No, there isn't, because once you touch a view in a particular folder,
Outlook caches your changes there. To make a global change, you must start
Outlook once with the /cleanviews switch to wipe out **all** view
customizations for all folders. Then make the changes you desire to the
named Messages view -- not the "current view" -- in View | Arrange By |
Current View | Define Views.

Thanks, but as I said:

Or to put it another way: Changing the default Messages view
actually doesn't change the way folders are displayed, even if
they use the Messages view.

I can of cause define a new view, and apply it to folders, but
then I have to apply it to each and every folder, which is
hundreds, and it won't automatically apply to new folders.

Yeah, that's what I saw.

Thanks a lot Sue. Highly appreciated.
