Menu speed is too fast

The drop down menus in the “Save†and “Open†dialog boxes, and also in the
IE6 address bar operate for a very short time – much too quickly to allow
selection of the folder, or to enter a web address.
On various programs, when I try to open or save files I am nor able to
select the desired folder fast enough before it reverts back to the starting
point (whatever was the last folder used).
I am unable to type an address into the Address bar. Whenever I try to enter
the address, I can type 2-3 letters then the last address overwrites what I
am typing. Even if I type very fast, it overwrites in about 2 seconds. I can
not even cut and paste a URL unless I am very fast – successful only once
I am able to follow links, and search from the Google toolbar, but typing
the address directly is not possible.
I had this problem before, but could only solve the IE6 portion by disabling
third party browser extensions. The problem is that I want some of these
items. Also, the problem seems to have spread to the drop down file menus as
well.

Hi John,

Do you have TweakUI, part of Windows PowerToys installed? You can control
menu speed under the "Mouse" setting. There is a slider there that will
adjust the speed from instantaneous to "taking forever". This is actually
changing a value in the Registry for you. TweakUI (and the rest of the
PowerToys) can be downloaded at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

I'm hoping this will help the address bar too (I think it will). If you
don't want to install TweakUI, and would rather work in the Registry, let me
know.
