Media Player v11 and File Types problem

Hello people!

I have a problem with Media Player when I need to use it on a website
or whatever, very often it won't play.

When I check for the File Types that are checked within it, I am
finding asf, wmv, aiff, and some other type are dark-grayed out, but
still have a checkmark in the boxes.

If I click on top of the dark grayed boxes, they become white still
with the check mark in them and the player works perfectly then.

I am pretty sure this is not just happening to me, but to some others
as well.

My system configuration:

Windows XP-SP2, all Microsoft parches and updates, plenty of juicy
RAM, over 2GBs, fast CPU, fast DSL, etc.

So, how can I keep these boxes from getting dark-grayed out all the
time?

If anyone has any answer to this problem, I would appreciate it if
they could comment on it as well as give tips and things to try.

Thanks!

You might also want to post to one of the media player newsgroups.
