Media Player Classic can't play WWW radio??

Shadow

I tried to access www.irh.com using this MPC player and failed. Previously I
was able to access a button on this link to start an earlier version of WMP.
In my file associations, .asc and .asf are linked to MPC.

When MPC failed, I resurrected WMP v7.01, and the only way I could get the
link to run was input the URL of the button -
http://hotspotshawaii.com/awed/irh20k.asx into the program.

If I input the same link to MPC, I get the ms "Failed to render the file."
I believe this player is similar to an early version of WMP but maybe it was
pre-internet radio and can only handle files???
I'd like to get rid of WMP v7.01 and use something slimmer.

I also tried MPC on the BBC link
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/wsscience_aod.shtml?ws_sia, and a few others,
which have real media files, and it always comes up with "Failed to render
the file."

Help appreciated.

TIA

S.

The best place to get an answer to your problem is directly from the author
of MPC, Gabest, on the MPC help forum.

MPC does play internet radio. I've successfully played tons of stations with
it in all formats. But it does appear to have problems with certain
connections. I tried to run your 2 links on MPC 6.4.6.3, the latest release,
and neither worked. I then ran them both on WMP 6.4. The Hawaiian link
played perfectly. The BBC link would not play at all.

Give the forum a visit.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
