ME to XP Upgrade Question

Angie

I have a Sony Vio laptop. When I upgraded the laptop from
Windows ME to XP, I lost the ability to use some keys on
the keyboard. Like I have a Fn key that you could press to
do different things on the F1-F12 keys. Is their a way to
get these working again? I could press Fn and F4 to raise
the volume, etc.

Thanks,
Angie

Notebook computers require specialized hardware drivers only
the notebook computer manufacturer can provide. Visit the
support website of the manufacturer of you notebook computer
to download the Windows XP compatible drivers designed to
work with your specific notebook model. These drivers should
be installed right after installing Windows XP.

Those depend on a keyboard driver supplied by the maker or possibly on a
utility they add to run at startup, It will have got lost in the
upgrade. If it is a utility, you *might* find it in a Sony folder on
the drive and be able to run it - but it may well not work with the
different system keyboard drivers. Sony *might* have a version for XP
if you ask,

Download the xP version of the utility from Sony's website.
Utility depends on what version of Sony Vaio you have.
