Seems strange, doesn't it? But as long as this legit McAfee program is listed
as "not yet classified" Defender will alert you whenever changes are made to
VirusScan settings or updater settings. Just suppose mallware tried to
disable VirusScan - Defender would notify you. Intentional or lucky
coincidence? I hope they don't change it.

I have similar problems with entdrv51.sys from NAI and it tells me about it
ALMOST every time I log on - not every time, but I can't see a pattern to
it!

I seem to have satisfied WD from letting me know every time I boot up that
Entdrv51.sys is a problem.

Open WD
Click on TOOLS from the top menu
Click GENERAL SETTING
Scroll down all the way to the bottom
Click the ADD button under ADVANCED OPTIONS
Browse your way to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\EntDrv51.sys
Click on the file EntDrv51.sys It will put the file name in the FOLDER name
space
Click OK.

I'm sure once McAfee and MS get this file Classified you should remove it
from the "Do Not Scan" list.

Hope this helps you.

Your answer is almost 2 months late. Defender finally classified the McAfee
task handler as "allowed" but that did not stop Defender from somehow
disabling all my scheduled tasks, including virus scans and scan by Webroot
Spysweeper. You can continue to tweak Defender all you want, trying to get
permission for your AV, modem, DVD players, or whatever other software
Defender wants to interfere with. I do not need a program that can disable my
AV but which cannot stop the Vundo trojan from downloading malware onto a
computer. I unistalled Defender 2 weeks ago and have no intention of
re-installing it anytime in the near future. Maybe someday it will be worth
having. But not now.

Hmmm well my Defender was still asking me what I want to do with it.
Let's not forget that this is a beta, not a final release version ;-)
