You are correct ... it ain't clean.

Remember that Hijackthis must be run in an own folder. Only if Hijackthis is run in its own folder will it create backups!

Also, your version of HJT is slightly out od date ... this is the latest

The first thing that struck me was, six instances of ... logonui.exe ... running, it is a Windows core system file and is in the correct place ... I'm just curious as logonui.exe is able to record inputs, monitor applications, manipulate other programs. How many "users" have access to this PC ?

OK, get HJT to fix the following ...

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - (no file)
Extremely Nastie, Should be fixed

F1 - win.ini: run=C:\WINDOWS\..\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MICROS~1\MSInf o\msinfo.exe
In MY book this one is spyware ... you may need to edit the win.ini file and just delete msinfo.exe from RUN= (you don't want anything here after RUN=)

O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx
NOT a danger, but save your sanity, uninstall and go get Foxit ;)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
NOT a danger, well not if you are trying to overclock your video card, are you?

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
Pain in the ass Office crud ... what to do

O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/nocach...etup1.0.0.6.cab
oops, Nastie? needs to be fixed

O16 - DPF: {30528230-99F7-4BB4-88D8-FA1D4F56A2AB} (YInstStarter Class) - http://us.dl1.yimg.com/download.yah...s/yinst0401.cab
Check if you know this site and fix it if you do not. Unknown ActiveX-Objects, or ActiveX-Objects from unknown sites should always be fixed.

aaaggghhh ...

Thread poachin ... frowned on you know ... how the hell am I going to know who is which and what is who ???

Remember that Hijackthis must be run in an own folder. Only if Hijackthis is run in its own folder will it create backups!

crazylegs ... No AV running, is this a test?

Oh, you is running ZA, what are your start-up times like ... hmmm, pass.

OK, here we go ...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundMan] SOUNDMAN.EXE
Not dangerous, but unnecessary. Right-click the icon in your taskbar and you should be able to un-tick a little box and stop it loading.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DXDllRegExe] dxdllreg.exe
dxdllreg.exe is an application which is supposed to request you register your version of DirectX, however sometimes it stays resident. Should be removed from startup

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebCam III SetFirst] webc3uns setfirst
Looks like you got a webcam ;) however, I dunno what this does, but it's loading

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebCam Autolaunch] webc3lch
ah, I see, its a Creative Video Blaster WebCam 3 ... I'll sit on the fence.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RemoteControl] "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe"
Do you have a remote control? ... if not, then this is just crud that can be unloaded.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adobe Photo Downloader] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom\apdproxy.exe"
Adobe, no comment ... OK, I'll comment ... not needed to be loading

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
Oh dear, another one ... this is not necessary to load

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UVS11 Preload] C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\uvPL.exe
Why does every program NEED to load at boot ... This program is not required to start automatically as you can run it when you need to.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
VIRUS!! MUST BE SHOT!! ... well ok, one may find another use for it ... has nothing to do with MSN
Start / Programs / Windows Messenger / Tools / Options / Preferences. Uncheck "Run this program when Windows Starts".
I find if one renames msmsgs.exe too msmsgs.sav then no more "problems" :D

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
See my comment & link to Alf about this crud

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
another instance

O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'SYSTEM')
another

O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTFMON.EXE (User 'Default user')
got any memory let to use ?

O23 - Service: Creative Service for CDROM Access - Creative Technology Ltd - C:\WINDOWS\system32\CTsvcCDA.exe
This program is not required to start automatically as you can run it when you need to. But they made it a service.
... plonk any CD in a Windows PC and it will auto popup with a box ... dunno why we "need" another one, one is enough ... or does it over-ride MSs?

O23 - Service: InstallDriver Table Manager (IDriverT) - Macrovision Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\11\Intel 32\IDriverT.exe
It appears that this file originated from the InstallShield line of application installers. It is supposed to only be used when installing a new program on your system (like when you run the setup.exe program). However, Apple's iTunes 5 added this entry into the Windows services, and it doesn't even seem to be necessary! Do you have iTunes?

O23 - Service: InCD Helper (InCDsrv) - Nero AG - C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\InCD\InCDsrv.exe
Another example of an unnecessary service ... Been known to cause "problems" with other software ... I don't use CD-RWs, and anyway, Windows knows the difference between CDR & CDRW

O23 - Service: MSCSPTISRV - Sony Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sony Shared\AVLib\MSCSPTISRV.exe
Is this a Rootkit ...
OK OK, maybe not then ... :p
