Windows XP (home and Prof) has a hardcoded maximum user
limit of 10 users on a shared folder.....not sure if W98
has a similar limit....

Uh, not quite. XP PRO supports 10 concurrent inbound connections to its
shared resources (printers and folders); the limit is based on the number
of connected PCs, not the number of resources. XP HE works the same, but
the limit is 5 instead of 10. W9x has no such limit AFAIK.

But there is no limit in the OS on the number of PCs that can share
a network.
