Maximizing Problem

Whenever I open Internet Explorer and then maximize it so
that it will take up the full screen (I'm running at
1280x1024) it doesn't actually take up the whole screen.
It acts as if it's maximized, but the status bar ends up
going beneath the task bar and at the top of the screen I
can still see my background. Any ideas on how I can fix
this?

The easiest thing to do is open IE, use your mouse to stretch the screen to
the exact size and placement you want and then click File and Close. It
will now remember that setting, works for IE, OE and Windows Explorer.

Which OS? Simplest thing to try in XP is to open and close its
Magnifier. Hint: press Win-U to open the Accessibility Utility
Manager.
