MAS complete waste of time

D

Dave Neve

Hello

I should be grateful for a free product but MAS is a complete waste of time.

I know it is a Beta version but nevertheless, it has been riddled with bugs
from the beginning.

After lots of problems downloading the latest version (and I am not the only
one to have this problem), Tracker is still incapable of emptying a temp
internet file (although it says that it has).

MAS is a Microsoft product and if it can't even empty IE after 6 months (the
Microsoft browser), then there has got to be something pretty wrong at
Microsoft.

Good luck to everyone who is still running MAS.

You'll need it

Hi,
Just to let you know that I have been running MAS since
day one and have had no problems with it at all. I have
now upgraded to the latest version, again without any
trouble. I think most of the bother is more rooted in
people's system setups than in the Microsoft product.
Cheers everybody.

I'm not fanning any flames here, but mine WAS running well until an update a
few weeks back. I had it set to update at 9:00am and run at 10:00 am each
day. But following an unspecified update it will not save any settings at
all! On top of that it refuses to scan ALL files and just does it's own
selection of about 20% of files available.
Any potential hacker would therefore know exactly where to place their
spyware.
I have uninstalled and re-installed many times to no avail. The latest
version is no better. I have uninstalled it now as I consider it worse than
useless.

I fully agree with Roy.
- The "Tracks eraser" does not clean anything at all
(after all this beta-time = disaster).
- Cookies are still not managable (what a pitty).
- C:\Windows\temp directory is being filled up with "log-
files"

THIS BETA IS GOING VERY VERY VERY VERY SLOOOOOOOOOOOW

You realize its a beta "1" product and you are judging it like it will be
released as the final product tomorrow. Please try and cooperate and
understand that MSAS Team cannot meet the expectations of everyone in one
product. They are working hard to make great product exceptional in its
final iteration.

If you are having problems with detection of Spyware, please restart your
computer in safe mode, Microsoft AntiSpyware and do a full system scan.
Also, use the following thirdparty AntiSpyware solutions along with MSAS:
Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html
Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com
Ccleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com

Also check the Microsoft AntiSpyware:

Well, I recommend CCleaner until MS is ready...................
www.ccleaner.com

You have MSN directors, safety directors, IE7 directors, afraid
directors
MS have probably most difficult to make MSN directors to understand
why everything must be rebuilt from ground.

Andre Da Costa has brought this to us :
Thats just not going to be possible for anytime called now Plun, maybe in the
next 10 to 15 years.

It will Andre......I believe that inside MS its a real battle between
a MSN wing and one trustworthy wing and between them we have
IE7 and MSAS engineering and I am sure that with this mess
with malware, phising, spam, botnets, zombies this can only result
that it must be rapidly changes otherwise its impossible to use
Internet for a normal user.

Hello

It may be a Beta version but it is , as I tried to point out, it a Microsoft
project which interacts with other standard Microsoft components/folders etc

The idea of a Beta version is to improve things following the remarks of
Beta testers.

It is not to bring out useless update after update.

After I posted, someone said that their version had always worked fine.

But MAS always says 'tracker has deleted x thing'.

A little look may well show that this is not the case.

Add on the problems with not getting the latest version after clicking on
'check for latest versions' and most people may not even know what version
they are working with.

How can you Beta test under such circumstances?

Hi Dave

For some unknown reason this latest update ended up in a real
mess with different versions and update problem.

To see latest version this kb should show it but it is not updated for
also unknown reasons.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;892519

My workaround was to install MSAS again on top , choose upgrade
and then it was possible to upgrade to latest def, 5729.

And this is not a real Beta, this was a fully working program from
Giant software
but something went wrong and maybe we should now call it a Beta ;)

The only way to find out about this latest version is on this page.

Andre Da Costa explained :
It really shouldn't, because MSN Explorer uses the IE engine. But in terms of
bring solutions to market the MSN Team is much faster.

Well, this MSN team must be "unarmed" before MS really can
deal with this Internet junkyard.

But it was not happening before the new builds of MSAS were installed.

It looks that spyware is using 1 speaker, try MSAS to find the spy!

LOL! Plun you make me laugh really hard! :-D

No I am serious, should MSN 9 or what is it stop
a real robust and safe browser from MS ?

Every time I see this preminum MSN browser I am ready for
a vomit ! And I believe that this IS a real challenge for MS
to overcome (and a battle between security and MSN).
