I'll just upgrade... but I like to solve problems, but
this one I'll have to caulk up as a loss I guess.. lol'

Because, like somebody else already pointed out, your computers are on a
different subnet. They should be in a subnet like 192.168.0.x. One of them
is on a 137.x.x.x. (a public IP) and the other on a totally different one.

The reason this worked is that it used the Netbeiu protocol to transfer the
file, not tcp/ip. But to confirm, disable Netbeiu and try the transfer
again.
However, this is not the ideal setup. As others have suggested, it's time
for a router.
