Many apps aren't listed in Add or Remove Programs

Really two problems: 1. Many installed apps don't show up
in the Control Panel's "Add or Remove Programs". They
appear when I check All Programs, but not in Add or Remove.
2. When I want to uninstall apps that don't appear in Add
or Remove Programs, I have to use Search to locate them and
don't know what is safe to remove. I've read that one
should never just delete an application one piece at a time.

In case anyone knows, are there 3rd part apps that can be
used to uninstall. I have SystemWorks 2003, but it only
displays apps that are listed in Add or Remove Programs --
which takes me back to my problems #1

Anyone kind enough to answer my questions should feel free
to use my email address,[email protected], especially
because I'm not all that sure how to find answers here
since this is my first use of a Newsgroup

You wouldn't be talking about windows components on left
column of add/remove programs would you because most of
them do not show up in the main list. I have seen programs
that have a seperate uninstall pkg at start/programs/(off
to the side of program) drop down menu. To uninstall
windows components clear the check box of item you want to
uninstall. hope this helps.

If you have norton system works 2003 why dont you turn
on clean sweep and have it monitor installations? so it
can remove them if needed!! Also every program on your
system can be displayed by clean sweep NOT just those
listed in the programs menu, can you say SEARCH?

Norton Clean Sweep is extremely unreliable. Not only is it excruciatingly
slow, if you aren't very carefull it will remove files that should not be
removed. This really is not a viable option, and can get you into trouble
easily.
