cheap lexmark z31............... black cart is empty ...........color cart
is full .
i want to make the color cart print my documents (i dont care as long as
they print any solid color) to empty it out (instead of buying another black
cart)

i just bought a canon i9100 which i will use after i drain the lexmark
color cartridge ($35 that i dont want to throw out)and throw the printer in
the trash

I don't know if the Lexmark understands HP PCL (Printer Control Language),
but the following sequence (in both character and decimal forms; you can
convert to BASIC or send them to the printer however you desire) makes my
HP 3820 print "composit black":

27 is the ESCAPE character

27 69 (reset printer)
E

27 42 114 45 52 85 (set four planes)
* r - 4 U

27 42 118 49 52 83 (set composite black)
* v 1 4 S

Pick either the numbers or letters version, string them all together,
convert them to CHaRacterS however you can, send them to your printer,
and, if your printer understands HP PCL, you should get "plack".
