Maintaining Internet Connection While Switching Users

Guest

I have a home computer with XP Pro, one internet dial-up connection to an
ISP w/ E-mail accounts.

Is it possible to configure XP to keep my internet connection intact while
switching users? This would be helpful if one user is surfing and the other
user wants to check E-mail. So far every time I try this, I loose the
connection when I switch users. I am using the fast switch screen to switch
users.

The following entry in the Registry will stop the prompt that closes the
connection when changing users under Windows XP:

1. Click Start, click Run, and type Regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
3. Right-click within the right pane, point to New, and then click String
Value.
4. Name the value KeepRasConnections.
5. Double-click KeepRasConnections, and set the value data to 1.
