Mail Client Not Properly Installed

Windows Mail is my default mail client. My OS is Vista Home Premium 64-bit. When I click the "email this" link on a webpage (such as on a Windows or Microsoft help page, or on a news site page, etc.), I get the following error message:

"Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed."

What can be done to my default mail client, Windows Mail, to alleviate this error?

Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Windows
Mail". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.
