default mail client not properly installed

I keep getting the "default mail client not properly installed" error message
when I attempt to send email from a webpage link. I've tried doing
everything that has been suggested. Default programs menu, and I even made
sure that Windows mail was set as my default mail handler. It says that I
have all of the defaults for it. Am I missing something? Could really use
some advice.
