Lycos Side Search

A

Alexander Cho

Most of the time, when i go to the address bar & type in
a web site in the "www.whatever.com", it automatically
redirects me to lycos search, with the phrase in between
www. &.com, for the search & results. This happens
instead of going to the site directly.

Also, when I open up IE 6.0, there are random pop up
windows advertising assorted things appearing, that I
think are not tied to the website. I have adware6.0 &
spybot, but I cannot get rid of these annoying ads.

Thank you for your time. These are starting to get old.

Hi,
See: How to remove lycos side search
http://www.spysweeper.com/lycos-sidesearch-uninstall.html
I've used Spy Sweeper a few times. It's been safe and effective, if a little
too aggressive (it found "spyware" that I don't think is really there- maybe
just a difference of opinion.)

If unsuccessful with that procedure, use HijackThis to post a
log to one of the forums where HJT logs are analyzed.

You're looking for updates to Ad-aware and Spybot before each use, right? Or
at least every 3-4 days?
