LOST HOME PAGE

I upgraded to IE 7 and after a short while decided I didn't like so I
reverted back to IE6.
Now everytime I fire up the internet it does not go to my ISP's home but to
a microsoft
download page.
When I check Tools>Internet Option>Home page it indicates the correct home,
so how do I
get rid of the Microsoft page that appears everytime I get on the net.
BTW, if I hit the homepage button it does then go to the correct page.
I'm a short step away from reinstalling my system, again!

Sorry I don't know how to restore your home page, but I would like to know
how you went back to IE6. I find IE7 the worst thing I've ever had anything
to do with. Several of my friends are having the same problems with it as I
have had. Any help reverting back to 6 would be really appreciated.

Just uninstall it via the "Add or Remove Programs" control panel, IE6 will
magically reappear

And what "problems" might they be? Have you been to
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general (which is the IE7 Newsgroup) to
see if there are any resolutions?

The page you get is normal after uninstalling the IE7 the system detect that
you want the recent updates which is IE7 again and take you to the MS updates
site, if you Hit the Icon Home on your browser you will get your home page
back.
If not then Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe and click [OK] on the Registry Editor locate the following:
Change the Home page in the following KEYS:
Click on *Main*
[+]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main.

and look in Right Pane/Window and Locate *Start Page* Right
Click on it and select Modify and enter the Data say for ex;
http://www.MyWeb.com as your Home page and then Locate also this *Local
Page* and Right Click on it and select Modify and put the following;
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm

The same with this KEY:
[+] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
On the *Start Page* change it into http://www.myweb.com

Leave the *Local Page* as it is if it have this string of Data:
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd={SUB_PRD}...... etc

Close the Registry and Open the IE Properties by Right Click on the Icon on
your Desktop and select Properties from the drop down list.
On the IE window click on Programs Tab and click on Manage Add-Ons, in the
Add-Ons window Disable Add-Ons for Non-MS IE Add-Ons (ZA, Safer network..etc)
and click OK.
On the same window click *Reset web Settings* and click Apply/OK and Reboot
your computer and see if the new home page is set.
HTH.
Let us know.
Regards,
nass

Just uninstall IE7 from Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.

It works just fine on all my machines here, as well as those of several
others I've installed it on.

I would suggest that, rather than uninstall it, you should describe your
problems at microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general and get solutions to
those problems.
