Lost cd and dvd drivers

Kevin Doherty

I lost my CD Liteon-LTR 24103s driver and Pioneer DVD-RW
DVR-driver because of the blaster virus. I use XP Pro. I
cant use either drive to reload drivers from cd. If i
could download the right drivers or windows compatible
drivers I could update the drivers. I cant even use my
windows XP pro disk. Its a hole in my bucket situation.

Apart from that I got away likely with this virus. Any
help or advice I'd appreciate.

Kev.

The ms blaster virus would not have messed with your cd drivers. It simply
allows your computer to be shut down in 60 seconds using the RPC exploit,
that's all the virus really does. Your drivers are a separate issue. I would
first try the manufactures website for drivers, or remove the cd drives from
device manager and reboot. XP should find and install them again.

It may be just a matter of damaged registry references, though I have
not heard of that in the context of Blaster. But To tidy up, get a
registry patch file, cdgone.reg, from
www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click on it and merge
it into the registry

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you use.
