Lost all my data in outlook 03 after clicking on Detect & Repair in Help menu

B

Bernard

Very Urgent Situation
I have Microsoft Outlook 2003 - Windows XP Pro part of
Microsoft Outlook Small Business
On the menu bar, I went on HELP then clicked on Detect
and Repair. I had a few problems and thought that it
would resolve it. Instead after this process, I reopened
Outlook and found a new copy of outlook and all data
where gone.
I lost everything:
-All my contacts addresses,
-All my data appointments etc. on my calendar
-All my recent e-mails and save one in fact everything
outlook. How can retrieve and restore just like it was
few hours ago???
-I went on Systems Tools and did try the Restore process.
Did several attempts on different bold dates prior to
yesterday and did not work??
I'm aware that the system restore feature restores my
operating system (drivers, Windows itself, patches) to
its previous state. It does not affect my data files,
including email, addresses and such. Unfortunately, I did
not restore my previous Outlook with my data.
Can you HELP, thank you.

Read my post. Follow the instructions. What part do you not understand?
Your Outlook data is where it was before. Just search for *.PST if you don't
know where it was and open one you find each in Outlook until you find the
one that has all your data.
The article I posted is pretty clear.

Your data is fine. Outlook just created a new profile. Just search for your
old Outlook data file (PST file) and configure Outlook to use it instead of
the new one. Instructions here:

Yes, it is all in the same pst-file. The Local Settings folder is a hidden
folder. You must configure your Folder Options to show hidden files and
folders.

Russ,

It seems that you're not reading my reply or not taking
into consideration my information.
I told you that I read this article. I did follow up
(simple and clear) but the result is not what I was
counting on.
Again and again, I do have my mails back with the
exception of what I wrote you yesterday.
Please, let's focus on those two aspects, if your want..
- I was able to retrieve my calendar in a funny
way. When I click to my Calendar folder I have this new
clean one in, without my previous data in and below that
same new calendar folder, I have my old one now. What I

Your Outlook data is where it was before. Just search
for *.PST if you don't
know where it was and open one you find each in Outlook
until you find the
one that has all your data.
The article I posted is pretty clear.

This what I did by picking the largest one 87.2 MB bu as

-I do have all my mails back with the exception of what I

By the same token,

What I need to do is to replace my old calendar as my

Yes, it is all in the same pst-file. The Local Settings folder is a hidden
folder. You must configure your Folder Options to show hidden files and

Then that would mean that you still have not found your original PST file.
Have you searched for and opened all PST file on your hard drive? If so,

Simply running Detect and Repair would not do this. There must be more to

to
yesterday and did not work??
I'm aware that the system restore feature
restores
my
operating system (drivers, Windows itself,
patches)
to
its previous state. It does not affect my data
files,
including email, addresses and such.
Unfortunately,
I
did
not restore my previous Outlook with my data.
Can you HELP, thank you.

Please provide the information I requested. Most of your questions in this
thread cannot be answered with any accuracy because you provide so little of
the information required.
I do not know how you created this file or whether it is a tab delimited
file, comma delimited file, or some other format. I do not know how you've
designated the fields in this file.
Once you figure that out, Outlook's Help files will guide you the rest of
the way.

As I said earlier, this file contacts was created as a
file TEXT Format under note pad...
Could you please explain how to do it from Outlook
knowing there are different options...?
-----Original Message-----
How did you create this file and in what format is it? If you created it
correctly you should be able to use Outlook's Import Wizard to import it
into your Contacts Folder as a Tab delimited file.

biggest one, 91.3 MB the other are 4100 K, 625 K, and

Yes indeed, I searched for and all opened PST. File.
Question:
Do you know how to Import From Outlook this notepad/text
format on my desktop which is my contacts address file
saved a week ago?

Could you please tell me how to do that????
If you don't know how to do it, that's find but tell me,
thank you.

-----Original Message-----
Then that would mean that you still have not found your
original PST file.
Have you searched for and opened all PST file on your
hard drive? If so,
then you must have done something to this PST file to
cause it to lose data.
Simply running Detect and Repair would not do this.
There must be more to
this story.

Russ,

It seems that you're not reading my reply or not taking
into consideration my information.
I told you that I read this article. I did follow up
(simple and clear) but the result is not what I was
counting on.
Again and again, I do have my mails back with the
exception of what I wrote you yesterday.
Please, let's focus on those two aspects, if your
want..
- I was able to retrieve my calendar in a funny
way. When I click to my Calendar folder I have this new
clean one in, without my previous data in and below
that
same new calendar folder, I have my old one now. What I
need to do is to replace my old calendar as my default
calendar by eliminating (deleting or removing it
definitely) this new one without any data. Could please
tell how to that? Thank you...
Contacts:
Regarding my contacts folder, it's still empty.
It is not in. What should I do?

Now as you remember, I told you that I have a while ago
that Contacts folder under notepad/ Text format. Do you
know how from Outlook I could import that Text/format
contacts file?

Hello and thanks for your patience.

I'm new in the PC environment, coming from Mac.
I tried your method >File-> Open-> Outlook Data
File...
then what? You have 3 choices: Settings or Open
Folder
or
Add. Which one is it? then what ? I went to that
article
and could not read anything showing precisely the
step
by
step!!
Thanks

Office
Data File, size -- 71,441 KB).

Question. How should I export now this PST. File
toward
Outlook program? Should I open first the
Application
Outlook and go File /Export-import then what
after?
Thanks.

Read my post. Follow the instructions. What part
do
you
not understand?
Your Outlook data is where it was before. Just
search
for *.PST if you don't
know where it was and open one you find each in
Outlook
until you find the
one that has all your data.
The article I posted is pretty clear.

Your data is fine. Outlook just created a new
profile.
Just search for your
old Outlook data file (PST file) and configure
Outlook
to use it instead of
the new one. Instructions here:

I did not do anything unusual. Really, it was a basic
move. I opened my contacts file and went to
Menu/File/Save as... choose my drop location on my
desktop folder and that was it. I looked at up this file
after and it was under Notepad and Text format. Frankly,
there is nothing much to add up...
If you know how to import from Outlook a text format
file, please let me know, thanks.
