logon error message

using windows xp pro for 2 years with no problem...today,
clicking on my profile icon, an error message pops up and
says "parser message value creation failed at line 422"
and the computer locks up....reboot and tried same logon
as administrator and same error message appears....booted
in safe mode and same thing happens......suggestions/??
