login problem

We have a situation with 2000 server (NTFS partition on
SCSI drive) where we can no longer login to the machine.
All this started after server reboot.

Every time we attempt to login it login window comes back
with press CTRL_ALT_Delete and prompts you to login. No
errors but this keeps repeating.
We are sure we are entering correct login info. Have
tried valid local admin and domain admin accounts. Same
account will let you login to other servers and same
accounts were able to login to this machine prior to
reboot.
Can this be a virus, and if this is the case, how to
login and fix it?
Thanks for any suggestions

Copy userinit.exe from c:\winnt\system32 to the same
folder on every other local drive. This should enable you
to log on.

You should then fix up the "userinit" registry key. It is located in
KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current Version/
Winlogon/.

If this does not help then you should have a look at the
permissions of userinit.exe.
