log in problems

I can browse all general web pages, but when it comes to
logging into secure sites (msn, banks, membership areas
etc) it gives me "this page cannot be displayed" cannot
find server or DNS error
I have a dsl service, using 2000, with a router (linksys)
turned down all settings, and virus
and still the same
Anyone got any suggestions to settings I may have missed
