Please show me where...

I don't keep yesterday's posts around.

This guy isn't being trollish, he's just having problems. He isn't
like that other guy - yet, anyway.

W.r.t. heavy-duty desktops, I came across this comparison of the UI and
usability of several graphical desktop environments, i.e. :
Windows XP, MacOS X, BeOS 6, KDE, Gnome.

FWIW: http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=3064

<Shrug>

I tried reading it but got bored by page three which is what usually
happens when I read comparisons with OS's I've never used about issues
that usually don't concern me. If I was a GUI designer I'd be more
interested.

Personally, while I find app interfaces varying in Linux perhaps more
than in Windows, it doesn't bother me particularly unless I can't
figure out how to do something which should be freaking OBVIOUS.

I'm struggling a bit with the Pan newsreader, which is similar to but
also somewhat different from Agent that I use on the Windows side
(yes, I know Agent runs on WINE, but I'd like to use native apps on
each OS if I can.)

Four letters...slrn :)

If you're partial to gui apps, try sylpheed-claws.

I may look into those and others eventually. I started with Pan
because I read it was supposed to be similar to Agent (three-panes,
etc.) So far I've just done a couple of sessions with it, and most of
that was going through the thousands of newsgroups and subscribing
(whence I discovered AFTER I went through them all that simply
right-clicking on the newsgroup name and clicking "subscribe" on the
pop-up menu did NOT actually subscribe the newsgroup - aaarggghhh!).
More work is needed by me.
