Links/thumbnails to source files disappear when moving the source

Hi,
When I import photos/videos in Movie Maker and save the project as a MSWMM
file and later on move my photos/videos to another location the
links/thumbnails to those photos/videos (source files) disappear in Movie
Maker and it shows a big red cross instead. Off course I can import the
photos/videos again (one by one), but it is a lot of work AND even more
important you have to drag the photos/videos to the right spot on the
timeline again and make them the right amount of seconds/minutes. Is there a
way to solve this?

The .mswmm files are nothing more than
project files...they do not include source files.
Movie Maker only records the path to the
source files files and as you have discovered,
if you move or delete them the path is broken.

You should save your completed projects
in a movie format....wmv or .avi.

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next / Next.
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Thanks John, but I know how to save it as a movie file.
But with a movie file as .wmv and .avi I can't work further on the movie,
while I can't make changes anymore to it as I can do to the .mswmm file.
I wish there was a way to 'fix' the broken links/paths to the source files.

You are certainly correct...you need
..mswmm file for editing.

One idea would be to not move or
delete your source files.

If the source files are still on the hard
drive but have been moved...you can
right click the Red Xs and browse
to the new location.

Also...go to the following site and read
the articles in the "Manage Your Files"
section.
