how do I stop MM crash when import avi files from fuji & cannon ca

I want to edit the videos I take from my cannon A75 camera and new fujifilm
31ffd camera.

Ie want to edit my concert and holiday videos.

But when I try and import them into movie maker it crashes.

I will import downloaded video and I have installed the ffdshow codec and
program.

Help please

The camera uses mjpeg video files, these need to be converted to wmv so that
they can be edited in Movie maker, so apps here that will do it
