Link information on a powerpoint show

Our receptionis must be able to change names into a presentarion, I create a
Object that is linked to a Word file, but found that the link is only updated
if I open the PPS file, if not the information does not chage as the linked
file.

Is any way to change information in a PPS without open or edit the file

Any idea??
