Well, it's not an unknown problem: http://snipurl.com/9elw

Unless you spilled an EPT test on your laptop and you're pregnant, I sounds like your LCD display is on its last legs or was damaged, Rama.

A few things you might try to gain a little more life out of the display:

- Turn down your color depth. (Right click the desktop and choose Properties | Appearance | Settings [varies with WinXP version installed] ) Some people find that increasing color depth helps.

- Turn down your graphics hardware acceleration. (Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Performance | Graphics button [ditto] ) You will see little, if any, performance degradation.

Try moving your laptop to a different area of your home and see if
that makes a difference. Also run the laptop on battery for awhile -
does the pink vertical line go away? It could be interference of some
sort from an external source or a bad AC adaptor.

You probably should get in touch with Sony support to see if they can
offer some help.
