:
: I sure hope so! My "newest" PC will only accept an 8GB drive, but I
: haven't been able to find one that small locally....Plus I need at
: least 2GB for Windows.
:
: I'm hoping I could install Linspire or Knoppix on 4GB or less on my
: Panasonic Toughbook CF-25, but that would require a pcmcia install,
: for which I don't have the necessary support floppy.
:
: Linspire seems to be quite limited in its installation options.
: Mandrake, for comparison, would let one spread the install over a
: number of partitions on several physical disks, while Linspire has to
: put everything in a single partition or physical drive, and won't even
: tell you how big that drive or partition needs to be!
:
: Since it provides no partitioning tools in the installer, you also
: have to have a cleared drive or partition of sufficient size ready.
:
: Let us know how your installation goes.

Hi All,

If anyone is interested Lindows OS 4.5 is provided as a freebee cd-rom
with the latest (issue 37) of the British mag Linuxuser & Developer.
The magazine cost me 19.50 Aussie dollars but I suppose if you are
getting the magazine anyway it can be regarded as "free".

Now can someone please help me? I'm running Windows XP and need to
partion my hard drive to install the Lindows OS. Are there any good
freeware partion managers around? I would like to be able to wipe out
the new hard drive partion if I don't want Lindows anymore and regain
the space.

Try Ranish and Presizer, but read the instructions and follow them
carefully. Last time I used it (two years ago) Ranish could create
Linux formatted partitions, but couldn't delete or do anything else
with them afterward. But you can always delete the partition with DOS
FDISK. Then Presizer should be able to expand your existing XP
partitions back into the free space (assuming Presizer works with XP).

Far as I know, Ranish can delete any partition - Linux, NTFS, it
doesn't care - nor should it.

Do something you whiner. I've been following this thread for two weeks and
I'm telling you what everyone else is thinking: You are a ****ing whiner
and no one wants to hear about the failures that you think are under the
guise of information. Just shoot yourself. Please? Or change the subject!!
