Keeping it FREE!

Disclaimer:
I know I'm probably wrong, I just like taking part ;o)

http://tracker.linspire.com/tracker.php/ says: "This file is for BitTorrent
clients."

And I can't even get a text box to enter the coupon into. Short lived
"deal".

: You have to "check out",
: enter any e-mail address into the next form,
: apply for a password, log in anew, search
: for "my products"

And then you have to open an account and tell them your billing
information. I do not use credit cards. When I tried to apply the
coupon, it still said my balance was $49.95.

: Well, it's a real mess :)), I admit, ...
: but what would you expect for 50 bucks :->

Hi PuppyKatt,

I don't know why I invest that much energy to help you all to get that
stupid CD [ ... which I now downloaded twice without any intention
to use it at all :)) ] ....

But no! You don't have to give them your billing information.
And no, you don't even have to use your real mail address (even
though they will send you some confirmation if you do ;->).
All you need is to go to:
https://shop.linspire.com/shopping/shopping_cartcontents.php?addItem=Array
->Update
-> Apply Coupon
Codeword: lindows

Make sure that the balance shows 0 $

->Check out

Fill out the form (with names of your choice :)
remember your (fake?) mail-address and PASSWORD

https://shop.linspire.com/loginform.php
Check in with your (fake?) mail-address and PASSWORD

-> go to products (your "purchase" should be shown)
-> click on CD download

and wait ...

Much luck
Charles

.... and please don't be angry with me if it doesn't work with
you .. all I can say: it worked for me twice.

:
: You have to use "lindows" as a password after you pushed the "apply
: coupon" option.
: HTH.

That continued to not work for me. I somehow got to the ftp site,
clicked Edit, Select All, Copy, Paste. There are 4 hours to go for this
to finish, on ADSL.
Once it is finished, I am guessing that I will have to burn it, then run
it from a CD???

I got to an ftp site but all I could find was source. Every attempt to
download the CD from their catalog deal resulted in an error message stating
the coupon was NOT valid for what I was wanting to purchase.

Yes.
I just finished burning it ... (I used Nero -> Burn image).
Now I will try if it runs from CD...

What download ? That page says ;

My.Linspire.com> My Products > CD Downloads

For an explanation of an ISO file, as well as how to burn them using
Linspire, visit www.lindows.com/installhelp

Source Code:
Modified source code.

Clicking on the source code link takes one to another page with ;

07/04/2003 12:00AM Directory lindowsos-3.x-source
09/30/2003 12:00AM Directory lindowsos-4.x-source

Is the second link the correct one ?

Not here. I got :

Sorry John, with me it's now 4:45 a.m.

I think I better go to bed now :>-
Hope you find one of the others that finished
the download to give you a better instruction.

One word of warning:
After burning that CD, you should know what
to do when you restart your PC ... DO NOT
INSTALL that OS unless you have an empty
partition and know which is which ;-))

Lindows has been forced by the almighty Microsoft to change their
name. Thet are now Linspire. To help promote the new name, they are
giving away (for a limited time) a bit torrent download of the iso
image of their product! You must register, but the software usually
sells for $49.95. Go to this page to start the process:
https://shop.linspire.com/shopping/shopping_cartcontents.php?addItem=Ar
ray Be sure to hit the "apply coupon" button & enter "Lindows" & it
will give you the $49.95 credit. Now all you need to do is finish the
process & begin the torrent download. This is a great opportunity to
learn Linux in a very user friendly environment. Hardcore linux users
will probably be put off by the eye candy, but make no mistake, this
is a very powerful os!!!! Enjoy!

Best I can tell you needed to have registered DAYS ago. Contrary to
what CDB says, you cannot download it anymore. I ahve tried from work
and from home. The coupon has exporired.

CDB PROVE ME WRONG.
